Well, you can have it all : there are probably less than a dozen windmill towers still standing on Gozo, but if you hurry this mill built in 1885 might be available for you to (re)discover the special place that is Calypso’s Island. As planes can sometimes be late and most shops close on Sundays, above rates include a small "survival pack" to welcome you on arrival (bread & butter, ham, cheese, milk, water, seasonal fruits/vegetables).
Bedrooms: Master bedroom with large double bed.
Converted flour room with 2 bunk beds. Living room also has 2 single beds (used as sofas during day).
Bathrooms: En-suite bathroom to Master bedroom, with additional door for separate entrance.
Kitchen: Gas cooker (with oven), fridge-freezer, toaster & kettle.
Other: Windmill tower with spiral staircase to roof terrace. Weekly change of towels and linen included.
Outside: Sun-facing patio with barbecue and stone table, and steps leading to garden. The millstone has been left as a feature in the corner of the patio.
The small Xlendi beach is about 2 miles as the crow flies (fairly steep stairs at the end of 45 minutes walk), and Ramla Bay -the island's largest beach- about 7 miles from the mill.
Cycle hire would be recommended, but car hire is unfortunately often the preferred option...
Gozo, the island where Calypso kept Ulysses seven years under her spell, is smaller, quieter and quainter than Malta mainland. It is reached thanks to a frequent ferry service, or using the helicopter departing from Luqa international airport.
